Certain films have left their mark on the history of the seventh art. The production of a feature film, however, relies on a fragile balance that is often unknown to the general public. From casting to scenario choices, through enmities or moments of grace, the destiny of a nugget could sometimes have been very different. Here are 3 secrets from filming on Ghostbusters.

Released in 1984, this production allows us to follow the adventures of parapsychology researchers. Fired by their university, they decide to launch a company that goes hunting for ghosts. Success is there and this work even quickly becomes exhausting.
According to Screenrant, early versions of the Ghostbusters storyline were very different. The action took place in the future and the three heroes wore tactical suits instead of their beige suits. The end of the film concluded with the success of their company with franchises that would open across the four corners of America.
But production ultimately decided otherwise. Indeed, setting this feature film in the future would have cost 300 million dollars, even in today's dollars, the sum is tidy and was not sustainable for the studio.
While the basic script included many jokes, the actors often decided not to follow it exactly. And for good reason, the cast is filled with stars gifted with improvisational comedy. Special mention to Bill Murray who multiplied his creations on the job.
We also learn that the scene where the character of Louis mixes with the guests was filmed in a single take. Rick Moranis almost invented all the dialogue on the spot, and it all looks great on screen.
Based on Cinemablend, this nugget of the seventh art was prepared very quickly. It only took 12 months from validation of the project to the release of the film. Once the pitch was sold to executives at Columbia Pictures, Ivan Reitman and co-writer and co-star Harold Ramis spent the entire summer writing the script and ironing out various details. Filming continued very quickly in New York and Hollywood, before the success that we are experiencing.
That's all for this week. Did you enjoy Ghostbusters when it was released in the cinema or did you discover it late ? Don't hesitate to remind us of your memories in the comments.
