Critical condition for a week

The child had drowned in the large pool of the water park. She had been pulled out of the water after five minutes, in cardio-respiratory arrest. She had been able to be resuscitated. But since then, her condition had been critical, her prognosis still engaged.

“The hope of seeing her wake up was very slim,” the mayor of the 15th arrondissement, Philippe Goujon, explained to our colleagues.

An investigation opened

Shortly after the incident, a man had pulled the little girl out of the water. She was in cardio-respiratory arrest. While waiting for help to arrive, a lifeguard had performed cardiac massage.

His efforts, followed by the intervention of the emergency medical service doctor on site, had allowed the child's heart to be restarted. The little girl had then been transported in serious condition to Necker Hospital.

According to the first elements of the investigation conducted by the 15th arrondissement police station, the young victim was accompanied by her father, who had also taken two other children from the family. The latter was busy with the other children when the little girl ended up in the large pool, an area where she was not allowed to go.

CCTV footage suggests that the little girl remained underwater for five minutes.
