“Given the economic context, it is in our interest to get back on our feet”: a Nîmes business leader fights against the ambient gloom

L'entrepreneur de Grézan Jean-Antoine Bunoz ne veut pas se livrer à du catastrophisme sur le plan économique. Midi Libre

Jean-Antoine Bunoz, president of the Association of companies of the Grézan Actiparc, discusses the unusual start of the economic year with a rather vague vision of the future.

While the year 2025 has barely begun, Nîmes entrepreneurs remain in the dark between political instability and the gloomy economic context. A situation that animates the discussions of the business leaders of the Grézan Actiparc whose association is chaired by Jean-Antoine Bunoz (1).

The latter, who equips community kitchens with Pertuis froid, indicates that for his activity the lights are green: “The order books are full. We have hope for the future. At the moment, however, we see that public orders are suffering from the repayment of the national debt. All projects are on hold. I am lucky because the catering sector, the fact that people have to eat and that there are standards that require changing fridges, gives me business. We know that construction and the automobile industry are suffering. If the first link in the chain, i.e. public orders, drops out, everything else will suffer.”

Relying on the local fabric of SMEs

While he does not want to indulge in catastrophism, Jean-Antoine Bunoz expects a tougher economic situation with fewer recruitments and stagnant wages: “I think it will last two years, until the presidential election. Add to all that political uncertainty and the colossal debt… We must not see everything in black, however, or be fatalistic. Our interest is to get back on our feet.”

Faced with these turbulent times, the entrepreneur hopes that local elected officials will play the local game and thus rely on the network of SMEs. This gloomy economic situation is the subject of all the attention of Cizan, which brings together business associations (Grézan, Saint-Césaire, Ville Active, KM Delta, Bouillargues and Euro 2000 in Caissargues). All are waiting for a clearing or at least to see things more clearly in a few weeks.

(1) Among the actions of the actiparc association, the Grézan tour, a large gathering of historic vehicles, will return on September 14, 2025. Actions will be carried out on the environment in the spring (collection, sorting of waste, environmental charter). I subscribe to read the rest
