A British reality TV show is causing a lot of debate in the United Kingdom and it is called “Go Back to Where You Came From” or “Retourne d’où tu viens” in French. The latter is adapted to the Australian format and has been broadcast since the beginning of February.

According to France info, candidates are sent to Syria and Somalia, with the challenge of returning to Britain, using the same means as migrants. The aim is to experience the daily life of these latter who flee their country by makeshift means.

I would like the Royal Navy to lay mines along the coasts and blow up the illegal boats. They are like rats, they will keep coming if we let them. We are being invaded!“, says Dave. This Briton is one of the six candidates on the TV show.

A change in perception

England is going to end up looking like this”, Nathan says. “How could they take care of our gardens when we see the state of theirs? Hey, why don't you clean the streets? There's trash everywhere!“. “Why do you have children if you don't have money?“, says Jess, a British coach.

Dave, the chef sent to Raqqa (Syria), who was initially opposed to immigration, has changed his mind and now wonders: “Why doesn't anyone come and help them? Everyone needs to see this. Actually, no, because it's really traumatic”.
