Tiger Woods, who underwent back surgery in September, will return to competition next week at the PNC Championship alongside his son Charlie, organizers announced Tuesday.
The tournament, which is being held in Orlando (Florida, United States) on December 21 and 22, brings together 20 duos consisting of a major tournament winner accompanied by a family member.
Woods, who turns 49 on December 30, will participate with his 15-year-old son Charlie for the fifth time. They finished second in 2021 and fifth last year.
The Korda family
Durably scarred by a car accident in February 2021, the legend with 15 major titles underwent surgery on his right ankle in April 2023. He returned to competition in February, participating almost exclusively in major tournaments. Woods has not played competitively since the British Open in July.
“I feel like I'm getting stronger, more flexible, but I'm still a long way from being able to compete” against the best, he said last week. This year, the PNC Championhsip welcomes the American world number one Nelly Korda and her father Petr, aged 56, a former Czech tennis player who won the Australian Open in 1998.
