Google Pixel 9a: the "low cost" smartphone would arrive earlier than expected

Generally expected around May, the affordable version Google's latest smartphone could well be released sooner. The Google Pixel 9a is already rumored to be provided with an early release date.

Google seems to be in a hurry to release new phones. While the latest Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold were released two months ahead of schedule, rumors are that the company's next device is also expected to be a bit ahead of schedule.

According to Android Headlines, the Google Pixel 9a is already well advanced in its design. Generally expected for May/June, the “a” versions Google phones are more affordable than the main range. The Google Pixel 9a would be no exception and would even have a revised and new design as demonstrated by OnLeaks on X (formerly Twitter) who was able to get their hands on early designs of the Pixel 9a.

We are therefore observing a camera module that is very different from those found on the Pixel 9. Although we do not yet have official information on the Google Pixel 9a, it would not be surprising if the latter does not have the same sensors found on the main Pixel 9 series. This would allow Google to reduce production costs and offer its Pixel 9a at a more affordable price.

Still according to Android Headlines, the Google Pixel 9a would therefore benefit from an earlier release date in March. This could put it in competition with the next Redmi Note 14 from Xiaomi planned for the same period.
