Anti-theft devices on meat at the supermarket

#HERAULT –Minced steaks, steaks, sirloins… under anti-theft in a supermarket. This is the decision taken by the Intermarché store in Balaruc-les-Bains, to deal with shoplifting. In the meat section, we can see Charal brand packaging equipped with an anti-theft system similar to those usually found on clothing. This process is not a first in France, the Monoprix on Place de la Comédie in Montpellier also uses it. “We decided to implement this after noticing thefts of meat in recent months” , explains Jennifer Bro. This method comes in an inflationary context that weighs on the purchasing power of the French. According to the Ministry of the Interior, inflation is the cause of the increase in shoplifting. The authorities would have counted 42,000 in 2022, an increase of 14% over one year.

A69: work can continue

#HAUTE-GARONNE/TARN –This Tuesday, January 21, 2025, the interim relief judge of the Toulouse administrative court decided not to suspend construction work on the A69, the future motorway between Toulouse and Castres. He prefers to wait for the judgment of the case “on the merits” scheduled for next February, “the project in question will produce very little concrete effect by then”, he justifies. On December 16, 2024, associations opposed to the project had brought an interim relief action before the judge to suspend the work. “The environmental impacts have already been produced on the overall scale of the construction site. As for the more significant operations, in particular the diversion and filling of watercourses, they will be undertaken at a date after mid-February 2025”, explains the judge. He also believes that the application of the construction site shutdown, which would involve safety phases, would have “had effects on a date close to that of the hearing in February 2025”.
