“Guiding students as best as possible”: the private Sainte-Marie vocational high school in Bagnols-sur-Cèze organized a Future and Careers Forum

The second Future and Careers Forum of the private Sainte-Marie vocational high school, intended for high school students in their final year of vocational studies and vocational training certificates, was held on Friday, January 10. “We have industrialists, of course, but also organizations like France Travail, describes Adil Chaabane, professor and co-organizer of the event. The goal is to offer a broad panel, to best guide students.” The high school, which also sets up mentoring between its programs and companies, itself contacts the stakeholders it wants to invite to the forum. “A lot of students don't find out for themselves. But in the end, they get pretty involved during this afternoon,” continues Adil Chaabane

Yanis and Nathan, final year students, confirm: “It's useful d’have the expertise of professionals. It can even encourage us to submit CVs to to companies that we like.” Mégane and Aurélie, also in their final year, regret that some sectors of activity are not represented, such as health. The high school students consider that “some students do not identify with the jobs offered”.

Companies looking for new recruits

This forum is a boon for professionals. Patrick de Ieso, from the public works company Roumeas, expresses a strong interest: “The company often participates in this type of meeting. We have significant recruitment needs, and at the same time, difficulties in hiring”. Alongside him, Théo, a former student of the Sainte-Marie high school now in his first year of BTS, is in fact doing a work-study program within the Roumeas group.

Not all the jobs presented are necessarily linked to the courses offered by the high school. Vanessa Rezig, a warrant officer in the national gendarmerie, sums up this win-win system: “Young people are looking for a dynamic job, without routine and that has meaning. We offer high school students the opportunity to see the different possible careers, and we take the opportunity to create a link with those interested in recruitment.”
