No time machine

“A lot of work has been done with our lawyer, we have also worked a lot with the new accounting firm”, explains Sylvain Pelegrin, co-president of the FTHB. “We recovered a little over €130,000, from friends and an investor. But in fact, the rejection of the appeal relates to the past two seasons: two points for the 2022-2023 season, two points for the 2023-2024 season and one more point for the suspended sentence. They did not take into account the financial efforts, the work done, the document of several dozen pages that we provided them, the contribution of a former financial manager of Montpellier HB who is joining us, former members of the club who are coming back to help. And since I don't have a time machine…”

A fight motivated by true convictions

Between a team that is the Proligue autumn champion despite limited financial resources and a professional project that continues to develop, the FTHB has things to defend. This is why the club will file an appeal this Monday with the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF). “Hoping that the real state of our finances and the projections that this generates will be raised at the negotiating table. What is the will ? Apply rules or support a young club that invests 200% and has a great project ? We want to perpetuate the FTHB at the professional level and we do not have the right to give up when we see what the players are doing on the field, just like the employees behind the scenes. It is not relentlessness, these are real convictions.”

The work is done and in no way distorts the championship, hence the hope of being heard. “I don't see where there could be any sporting inequity, given that we have the smallest payroll in Proligue and the smallest number of professional players (Editor's note: eleven, the minimum required) “, concludes Sylvain Pelegrin. “The message sent could be discouraging, because it means that there's no point in working. But that won't be the case at the FTHB. And if we don't succeed, it would at least have confirmed the image of the small village that fights against big teams, with little means but a lot of desire and heart.”
