Handball: in Women's Division 2, BHNM launches its maintenance operation against Lomme Lille

Dernière du championnat, l’équipe de Bouillargues Handball Nîmes Méditerranée ne doit pas manquer son match de reprise. Une victoire lui permettrait de lancer idéalement sa deuxième moitié de saison.

A single victory in seven days

With only one victory on the clock, obtained on the gong against Pouzin (30-31) on November 13, the Gardoises are lighting up at the bottom of the table.

This return match will not be an easy task against the Northerners who have had a very respectable first half of the season (4 wins, 3 losses). They have in their ranks two former BHNM players, goalkeeper Mallaury Pavillard and left back Meredith Guidani, who both joined Hauts-de-France Nord at the start of the season.

Léa Lacroix, 49 goals scored

To try to win, Bouillargues will rely on one of its precious elements who has been making the statistics go crazy: Léa Lacroix, at the club for four years. The full-back, who will celebrate her 27th birthday on January 16, is the top scorer in the Women's Division 2 with 49 goals in six games.

Like her team, she is approaching this first meeting of 2025 with desire and seriousness:“We prepared well and despite the holidays, we trained all week. We are determined to start the year with a good match. We put all the chances on our side to win.”

The return of Axelle Bertrand

BHNM will be able to count on its goalkeeper Axelle Bertrand, who has been on the sidelines since last October due to a calf injury. A return “that can do us good”, believes Léa Lacroix who specifies: “We finished 2024 with a great victory, at the last second, against Pouzin, it is essential for us to start 2025 with a new success.”

In the race to stay up, Lacroix will be a determining factor for his team. “I have to keep up my momentum, she explains, give my all to bring victories. And, above all, continue to play freely to keep this role in the team.”

BHNM (13th, 8 pts) hosts Lomme Lille (5th, 15 pts) this Saturday, January 4 at 8 p.m. at the Agora gymnasium.
