Harris and Trump move toward final sprint of their campaigns

Until the last hour of the last day. Kamala Harris and Donald Trump continue their intense long-distance duel for the White House on Friday, without straying too far since the two candidates have each given their supporters an appointment in Milwaukee, the largest city in Wisconsin.

The Democrat will receive the support on stage of the famous rapper Cardi B, after having recently obtained that of Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Lopez and even basketball superstar LeBron James.

The Republican should continue to make a killing from President Joe Biden's latest gaffe, calling Trump supporters “scum,” before pulling himself together.

Wisconsin is a symbol of the unpredictability of this election, so close that it risks being decided by a few tens of thousands of votes.

This state on Lake Michigan swung for Donald Trump in 2016, then for Joe Biden in 2020, by less than a percentage point each time. The current president won by nearly 21,000 votes, compared to an advantage of about 80,000 votes in Pennsylvania and 154,000 votes in Michigan.

These three historically industrial key states in the north of the country are part of the “blue wall”, the color of the Democrats, that is to say, they are supposed to be able to propel the party's candidate to the White House.

But that was before the thunderous irruption of Donald Trump into American politics. The Republican had caused a stir by winning Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania eight years ago, before losing them in 2020. Four years later, the outcome of the battle will be a close call.

With four days to go until the presidential election and exactly 80 days until Kamala Harris or Donald Trump is installed in the Oval Office, tensions continue to rise.

Donald Trump's camp has already started to fuel the idea on social media that irregularities were committed in the voting operations.

“If we can keep the cheating to a minimum, we will have a huge victory,” Donald Trump said again on Thursday evening during a public interview with the radical right-wing polemicist, Tucker Carlson, in Arizona (southwest).

He also accused Ms. Harris of being “dumb as a rock.” Once again, he claimed that record immigrant arrivals under the Biden-Harris administration have caused a crime wave – something that no official statistics show.

At a rally in Las Vegas (west), the vice president portrayed the billionaire as an “increasingly unstable man, obsessed with revenge, consumed by grievances, and who aspires to unchecked power.”

Two-thirds of Americans fear violence and already in Washington, around the White House, businesses are deciding to protect their windows with plywood panels.

The Washington police chief, Pamela Smith, showed her firmness. “I want to be very clear: We will not tolerate violence of any kind. We will not tolerate rioting,” she warned this week.
