Harris questions Trump's health after bizarre musical episode

“I hope he's okay”: Kamala Harris again cast doubt on Donald Trump's mental health on Tuesday, after her rival cut short a campaign meeting the night before, remaining on stage for a long time listening to his favorite songs.

“Trump looks lost, confused and frozen on stage,” the Democratic presidential candidate's campaign team commented, releasing a video of the incident.

Donald Trump, who would be the oldest American president to be sworn in if he wins on November 5, responded to the questions with a late-night message on his social network, claiming to have obtained “exceptional” results on two separate cognitive tests.

“I am in much better health than Clinton, Bush, Obama, Biden and, especially, Kamala,” assured the 78-year-old former Republican president, three weeks before the election.

The bizarre scene took place during a “town hall” — a public question-and-answer session with voters — organized by the candidate in Oaks, Pennsylvania.

The event, in a room apparently poorly air-conditioned, was interrupted when two spectators successively fainted, requiring the intervention of paramedics.

“Does anyone else want to faint? Raise your hand please,” Donald Trump then quipped. Then, with the campaign meeting only half an hour away, the septuagenarian suggested: “What if we have a music festival? (…) Let's stop asking questions, let's listen to some music.”

The Republican asked for his favorite “playlist” to be played, starting with tenor Luciano Pavarotti singing “Ave Maria.”

Donald Trump is often described as very attached to his favorite playlists, which he likes to play on his private plane or at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. But here, the surprise came from the fact that the candidate did not resume his question-and-answer session.

“Who wants to hear questions?,” he said. Election night took an unusual turn for over thirty minutes of music, with the former president swaying around standing up, microphone in hand — a scene derided by Democrats.

“It was different than usual, but it ended up being a GREAT NIGHT!” Donald Trump defended on his Truth Social network Tuesday.

Before assuring, during an interview in Chicago, that Kamala Harris would be “incapable of passing a cognitive test”.

The Democratic candidate, who will celebrate her sixtieth birthday on Sunday, has herself accused her opponent in the race for the White House several times of being mentally “unstable”.

Her team waves the sometimes very confusing stories of Donald Trump during his campaign rallies as illustrations of a possible cognitive decline of the Republican.

The candidate brushes aside these reproaches.

“I'll let you know when I lose it, I really think that I will be able to tell you,” he told his supporters.

Donald Trump has, however, ruled out running again in 2028 if he loses on November 5, indicating that this campaign would be his last.

During the billionaire's campaign event on Monday, the audience was able to listen to “Con Te Partiro” by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman, “Hallelujah” performed by Rufus Wainwright, “Nothing Compares 2 U” by Sinéad O'Connor, “An American Trilogy” by Elvis Presley, “Rich Men North of Richmond” by Oliver Anthony, “November Rain” by Guns N' Roses and, of course, the essential disco hit at Donald Trump's rallies: “YMCA” by the Village People.

Other celebrities musical acts such as ABBA, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Celine Dion and the Rolling Stones have asked the Republican candidate to stop playing their songs during the campaign.
