At 51, Larry Page is a prominent figure in Silicon Valley. The entrepreneur is best known for co-founding Google in 1998 with Sergey Brin. The rest is history: the search engine and its famous algorithm took the Internet to the next level, transforming the company into a global tech giant. Although he is relatively discreet, this leader's speeches are closely scrutinized and often considered inspiring.

“Make the world lazier”

This is the case for his speech at a graduation ceremony in 2009 at the University of Michigan. The latter urged students to find technological solutions to make the world lazier. This statement deserves an explanation.

In short, Larry Page indicates that he had many ideas when he was at Stanford University. An advisor then suggested to him: “Why don't you work on the web for a while ?” In fact, this innovation was booming at the time for a simple reason: “Technology, and in particular the internet, can really help you be lazy”.

The entrepreneur explains:

A group of three people can write software that millions of people can use and enjoy. Can three people answer the phone a million times ? (…) Find the leverage in the world, so you can be lazier.

And the one whose fortune is worth more than $100 billion concludes :

Overall, I know it seems like the world is falling apart, but this is actually a great time in your life to get a little crazy, follow your curiosity, and be ambitious. Don't give up on your dreams. The world needs all of you!

Jeff Bezos's killer quote

As a reminder, great leaders are often asked to give management advice. On this subject, Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, made some rather radical statements: “I asked everyone here to wake up terrified every morning, with their sheets soaked in sweat”. It is not about sweating for fear of competition “but of our customers, because it is with them that we maintain relationships. They are the ones who pay us”.

He adds: “I believe that our customers are loyal to us until someone else offers them a better service”. You can find the words of this big boss in our previous article here.
