A man won 20 million euros in the lottery on December 24 by playing numbers he doesn't usually play. A strange coincidence since his father had also won the jackpot a few years ago, although the sum was less important.

It’s a Christmas that the man is not likely to forget in a hurry. On December 24, a man participated in the Grand Loto de Noël organized by the Française des Jeux (FDJ), by playing a random combination: 9, 19, 37, 40, 44 with the lucky number 5. The next day, when he opened his emails, he discovered that he had won the jackpot, according to the organization.

“On Christmas morning, when I checked my emails, I discovered that I had won the jackpot. I was stunned!”, he told the FDJ. “I walked around the house, unable to believe it. I finally woke my wife up to tell her the news. She couldn't believe it. We spent the whole day watching the drawing show with Jean-Pierre Foucault, checking over and over again that the numbers matched. We still have trouble believing it!.”

“It's one of the few times I've seen him cry”

“It's one of the few times I've seen him cry. I feel like it's all unreal,” confides his wife. “My father had already won the jackpot when I was a child, but the amount was smaller and he had played with his colleagues. He had won around 50,000 euros”, he reveals. “Since then, I wanted to try my luck too”.

According to the FDJ, the couple who wish to remain anonymous, plan to travel around the world, buy a new car, and help their children.
