He started up again while one of the officers was hanging on to the car, dragging him for several meters, reports the departmental branch of the Alliance police union. The officer finally let go, and the man continued on his way at high speed.

Wrong-way driving on the A9

A large force was immediately deployed to arrest the reckless driver. Reinforcements were deployed at the south toll booth, the exit taken by the individual. But when he saw the reinforcements, he turned around and fled in the opposite direction, still on the motorway.

He drove for about fifteen kilometres, without causing any injuries, before stopping at the Rivesaltes rest area. The police caught up with the car and managed to intercept two individuals in the vehicle. One of them is said to have bitten an officer.

The driver, meanwhile, had already fled. The union adds that the two police officers who were dragged away received two days of ITT. It was not a refusal to comply linked to serious crime or drug trafficking.
