This Sunday, January 5, 2025, an 84-year-old man died during a flight from Marseille to Rennes.

The events took place this Sunday afternoon on a Volotea plane that was flying from Marseille to Rennes in Brittany, reports Ouest-France.

A first cardiac massage in mid-flight

An 84-year-old man died following a heart attack on board a plane. According to a witness, the scene took place around 4 p.m.: “The man felt ill when he went to the toilet. A man went to get him to take him back to his seat”, he told Ouest-France.

While the man was being transported to the front of the plane, two medical personnel on board tried to help him by performing cardiac massage.

He did not survive

When the plane landed, the firefighters and the emergency services also came on board to intervene and transported the octogenarian at the Pontchaillou University Hospital. Unfortunately, he did not survive and died in the evening.

His wife, who was traveling with him, was taken care of and transported to the hospital, according to our colleagues.
