A six and a half year run. This Tuesday, Ricardo dos Santos, 45, was arrested by the Brazilian police, in Natividade da Serra, reports Nice-matin. He is the main suspect in the murder case of Cédric Vacherié, a 33-year-old artist from Cannettan who was killed in 2018 in Brazil.

The man has already been found guilty

The son of a pastor and neighbor of Cédric at the time, the forty-year-old has already been found guilty of the facts in absentia by the Rio court of justice. He had been on the run since 2018, the year the body of the Côte d'Azur native was found by workers with a bullet in his head, on his property in Paraty, Brazil.

Following this terrible discovery, the forty-year-old and his father, Cecilio dos Santos, were immediately suspected. The latter, who accused his son of the murder, had notably been arrested before being placed in detention in 2019.

Interviewed by telephone by Nice-Matin, Cédric Vacherié's mother confided that she was “happy that he had been arrested but” that “since the news,” she was “completely blocked, as if devastated.” The woman told the regional daily that according to her “lawyer in Brazil, Ricardo could be brought before a court quickly, during the first quarter of 2025, to explain himself.”
