The tragedy took place during the morning of this Monday, Place du Gros Caillou, in the 4th arrondissement of Lyon. A man lost his life after being hit by a delivery truck shortly before midday, reports BFMTV.

An investigation opened

The victim was a 50-year-old pedestrian. For the moment, the exact circumstances of the tragedy are still unknown, the investigations of the police will have to determine them.

We know however that the man was hit by a delivery truck in front of the nursery school, which was driving on the Place Lyonnaise, indicates the local daily Le Progrès.

The emergency services quickly arrived at the scene of the tragedy, but despite their intervention and transport to hospital, the victim succumbed to his injuries caused by the impact with the delivery vehicle. The school children left the school building through another exit to avoid seeing the scene, the news channel said.

The truck involved was examined by law enforcement and an investigation was opened by the police.
