Heatwave: Heat recedes, giving way to stormy deterioration this Tuesday

Spread the love

After a very hot Monday, temperatures began to drop on Tuesday, giving way to thunderstorms.

The heatwave reached its peak on Monday across a large part of the country. 40 departments had been placed on orange heatwave alert. This Tuesday, according to Météo-France, there are finally only nine left: Ain, Alpes-Maritimes, Corse-du-Sud, Drôme, Haute-Corse, Haute-Savoie, Isère, Rhône and Savoie. Temperatures are therefore dropping this Tuesday across almost the entire territory. In particular, they should not exceed 30 degrees at Paris against 36 the day before. The heat persists however in the south-east quarter with temperatures around 35 degrees.

However, a stormy deterioration is looming. 7 departments are on orange alert: Allier, Loire, Aveyron, Tarn, Cantal, Haute-Loire, Puy-de-Dôme. Storms will arrive in the early afternoon in the Massif Central.

Météo-France alert for "strong storms, accompanied by intense precipitation, hail, gusts and significant electrical activity. Gusts of up to 100 km/h are expected. In the rest of the country, showers are expected occasionally, particularly from the west of the Pyrenees to Hauts-de-France.

A sunny weekend

On Wednesday, only three departments will be on orange heatwave alert, the Alpes-Maritimes and the two departments of Corsica. Temperatures will also continue to drop. After the storms in the middle of the week, the Açores anticyclone should ensure calm and warm weather, without too many excesses, according to La Chaine Météo. North of the Loire, cloudy skies will persist and showers will be possible near the Channel.

The weekend will be rather sunny despite some storms on the eastern reliefs. Temperatures will fluctuate between 20 and 33 degrees in mainland France.
