  • He must also pay 50,000 euros for undeclared work and undergo psychological treatment.

Jean-Marc Morandini knows his fate. This Monday, January 27, the CNews host was found guilty of sexual harassment against a young actor. The Paris Court of Appeal decided to sentence him to 18 months in prison, suspended. A sentence heavier than that handed down at first instance. In 2023, Jean-Marc Morandini was sentenced to six months in prison with a two-year suspended probationary sentence. He appealed the court decision.

On appeal, the CNews host was also fined 50,000 euros for “undeclared work” concerning several actors who auditioned for the series Les Faucons. Jean-Marc Morandini should also pay a fine of 10,000 euros and compensate the victim of harassment and the victims of undeclared work. Finally, the host will have to undergo psychological care.

The host requested videos of a sexual nature

“We are satisfied with this conviction which confirms the status of victim for our client”, said Besma Maghrebi, lawyer for one of the plaintiffs. Jean-Marc Morandini was being prosecuted for acts that took place between June and September 2015. At the time, he had encouraged actors aged 19 to 26 to exhibit themselves naked for castings of a web series he was the producer of.

A fake casting director, Catherine Leclerc (who was in reality Jean-Marc Morandini) had sent them emails insistently asking them to send videos of them naked, with shaved pubes and masturbation scenes sometimes with ejaculation. According to the investigators, the “totally fictitious character” of Catherine Leclerc, constituted a “maternal and reassuring figure inspiring confidence”, notably to Gabriel P.

Jean-Marc Morandini: this other conviction for which he appealed

In August 2015, this young 19-year-old actor had notably received two e-mails from Catherine Leclerc, asking him if he was ready to perform fellatio on Mr. Morandini, “who is not just anyone”. “It is obvious that I am not going to be difficult about nudity (…). I will obey what you order me to do,” he replied to the host who was hiding under a false identity.

Concerning concealed work, actors had filmed a few episodes without being paid or declared to social welfare organizations. They had been paid in August 2016, a month after the affair was revealed by the magazine Les Inrocks. In December 2022, the host had also been sentenced to a one-year suspended prison sentence, with a two-year mandatory treatment and his registration in the register of perpetrators of sexual or violent offences for “corruption of minors”. Between 2009 and 2016, he was accused of having exchanged messages of a sexual nature with three teenagers and also of having organized a casting at his home. He appealed this conviction.
