On December 7, 2024, a 10-year-old boy managed to start the family car, left for a few minutes by the child's father in front of an Intermarché store in Dordogne.

The cat was not there. A 10-year-old boy caused an accident at a gas station on the edge of an Intermarché store in Saint-Médard-de-Mussidan, reports Sud-Ouest. Taking advantage of his father's absence – for a few minutes – the child managed to start the vehicle.

A child at the wheel

While his father was buying a bottle of gas at the gas station, the little boy slipped into the driver's seat. It seems that the child accidentally put the automatic car into reverse gear. He backed up before violently crashing into the station's payment booth.

Another child, even younger, was in the back seat of the vehicle during the collision. In addition, a woman employed as a cashier was in the cabin that was accidentally hit.

The accident

“As he started to reverse, I saw a small figure at the steering wheel of the vehicle”, says a witness to the scene quoted by France bleu. He watched the accident helplessly.

He describes a particularly violent shock: “A big shock. It made a lot of noise. And a lot of damage. Two walls of the cabin fell, the water pipes broke, it y had a water geyser, all the electricity in the gas station went out.

The collision did not cause any injuries. The gendarmes of the Mussidan-Montpon brigade community, as well as the firefighters, intervened shortly after the incident.
