A newlywed British couple who went to Cape Verde for their honeymoon have filed a complaint after suffering food poisoning and are hoping to be compensated.

Liam Williams and Jade Churchill, a British couple, got married last October. After their wedding, they had chosen to go to Cape Verde for their honeymoon, attracted by its idyllic beaches and a five-star hotel. But, their dream vacation quickly turned into a nightmare, reports Metro.

Little Soon after their arrival, Liam began to feel unwell, thinking he had food poisoning: “It was left uncovered for long periods of time, then reheated repeatedly before being consumed .”

A hospitalization

Victim Diarrhea, fever and extreme fatigue left the young groom confined to his room, having to go to the toilet up to 30 times a day. To avoid complications on the return flight, he even stopped eating.

Once back in the UK, his weakened state required hospitalization , specifies the British daily newspaper.

This nightmare trip cost the couple 3,000 euros: “We would have preferred to choose another destination to start our life together well.”

Faced with this disastrous experience, the newlyweds decided to call on a specialist lawyer The latter said it had received more than 1,400 similar reports from travellers who fell ill after a stay in Cape Verde, citing insufficient health standards. He hopes to obtain compensation for his clients.
