Very discreet at the beginning of the year, Apple could well surprise us where we don't expect it. While all eyes are on its progress (or delays) in artificial intelligence, Apple is preparing behind the scenes a small revolution in the management of our events. Its code name ? “Confetti”. Behind this festive name, the company would like to completely reinvent the way we organize our appointments, our evenings and our meetings.
Switching between apps to plan a simple dinner party could soon be a thing of the past. With Confetti, Apple is looking to centralize the entire experience within its ecosystem. The service, which will be rolled out via iCloud, promises seamless integration with existing apps like Messages, Maps, and Reminders. How this new calendar will work? For example, you can create an event, and the app will automatically suggest nearby restaurants, your guests will receive a sleek notification, and their responses will instantly sync to your calendar.
This new feature also represents a shift in strategy for Apple. The Calendar app, which has remained relatively static in recent years,is about to receive its biggest update in a long time. A welcome refresh that could well convince users to abandon third-party applications (notably the excellent Fantastical) in favor of Apple's native solution.
200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000While some will see this as an attempt by Apple to compete with existing event planning applications, this is not the case. Confetti's strength lies in its deep integration with iOS 18.3 and therefore all Apple devices. An approach that prioritizes user experience over the simple accumulation of features.
Apple is indeed seeking to strengthen its in-house services with the aim of fully integrating them into Apple Intelligence. For the time being, the company is lagging significantly behind its competitors. It has in fact chosen to develop the entire architecture of its artificial intelligence internally, while its rivals use tools that are already available (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, etc.). By adopting this strategy, Apple is confirming its desire for independence and control of its tools, even if it means temporarily worrying the markets.
Will this strategy pay off?? The recent rise of DeepSeek (which caused a tsunami on the financial markets in the AI sector) proves the company right. It remains to be seen what the regulatory authorities plan to do. Still unavailable in Europe, Apple Intelligence will have to comply with the new rules of the AI Act which came into force on February 1, 2025.
