It’s also important to note that even if your Mac is no longer receiving the latest version of macOS, Apple continues to provide security updates for older versions.

This year, for example, in addition to releasing macOS Sequoia, which is the most recent version, Apple also released security updates for macOS Sonoma and macOS Ventura, the version of macOS that was released in 2022. The company states that once a product is considered obsolete, it no longer performs hardware repairs on it and repair parts for that product can no longer be ordered through service centers. “Mac notebook computers may be eligible for a battery-only repair for an extended period of up to 10 years from the last date the product was sold, subject to parts availability”, Apple nevertheless specifies.
