How to Use Gemini Directly on Google Chrome Address Bar ?

Gemini is one of the most interesting alternatives to ChatGPT today. And besides the fact that Google regularly releases new, more powerful versions of its artificial intelligence, the firm also makes its ChatGPT competitor more practical. Indeed, Google has a range of products and services to which it can integrate Gemini in order to make AI more useful to the user. For example, via an extension, Gemini can connect to the Workspace productivity suite. Thanks to this integration, it is for example possible to ask Gemini to search for emails in the Gmail inbox or Google Drive documents. Little by little, Gemini is also integrating into the computer version of Google Chrome, the Mountain View firm's browser.

Normally, if you want to use Gemini on your PC, you have to open your browser and then open the chatbot’s website. But Google recently rolled out a super handy shortcut on Chrome: instead of going to Gemini’s website, you simply type “@gemini” in the address bar and then type your “prompt” or question for the AI. Once you have the query, Google Chrome will redirect you to Gemini’s website, where the AI will present the answer to the question in Google Chrome’s address bar. In essence, this is a super handy shortcut, but not really an integration of Gemini into Google Chrome’s browsing experience. But for Gemini users, the time savings can be huge. It’s also important to note that you need to have a Gemini account and be able to log in to it on your browser.

In addition to this shortcut to use Gemini AI, Google is also rolling out another very handy feature: a Google Lens shortcut on the address bar and a new way to use the visual search engine. On the right side of the address bar, there is a new “Google Lens” button that you can click if you want to search for something displayed on the website you are visiting.

After After clicking on this button, you just need to click on the item (in the example below, the image of a product tested by Presse-citron) to launch a visual search for this object.

This new feature from Google Chrome is reminiscent of the Circle to Search feature that is currently available on some Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Instead of taking a screenshot, cropping, etc., the user simply has to indicate what element they are interested in, to start a visual search.
