The white smoke finally rose above the Cap d’Agde Méditerranée tourist office bubble! While the Hérault Méditerranée urban community has for several months now confirmed the departure of Christian Bèzes, who has reached the age limit (the former director has nevertheless accepted the mission proposed by President Sébastien Frey to accompany, at least until the next municipal elections, his successor at the head of the OT, Editor's note), we now know the identity of the latter: it is Hugo Alvarez, deputy director of Atout France, the French tourism development agency, in charge in particular of strategy and foresight.

An XXL CV

While Christian Bèzes had great academic credentials to show off, including a doctorate in his pocket, his successor, 35 years old, also has an XXL CV. Let us judge for ourselves: a graduate of the École normale supérieure de Paris Saclay, he also obtained a master's degree in research at the Paris School of Economics, before joining consulting firms and then Atout France, therefore.

By publishing its job offer in specialist journals, the Agglo Hérault Méditerranée hit the mark, since it received around fifteen serious applications. The best profiles were selected from a “short list”, to reach a final in the form of a grand oral, organized just before the end-of-year holidays.

Two finalists with different profiles

According to our information, if Hugo Alvarez was almost unanimous after ten minutes, and not only because of his CV, the presentation of the other candidate for the position, Régis Alexandre, also gave the jury food for thought. Director of the Gap tourist office since 2019 after having managed that of La Tremblade, in Charente-Maritime and Mercantour, also having worked for the International Cycling Union (UCI) and the French Cycling Federation, where his expertise in mountain biking was crowned by the management of the events at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004, the unfortunate finalist also had a solid record of service. But it is Hugo Alvarez who will take over the management of the Cap d'Agde Méditerranée tourist office in the spring.
