This Monday, December 16, around 10:20 p.m., an earthquake hit the Côte d’Azur. An earthquake felt by many residents.
The earth shook once again on the Côte d’Azur this Monday evening. According to France séisme, a magnitude 4 earthquake was recorded at 10:22 p.m., with an epicenter located off the coast of the principality of Monaco.
As a reminder, on the Richter scale, a magnitude 4 earthquake is generally characterized by “perceptible tremors” but does not cause damage.
Shakes were felt in the vicinity of Nice and as far as the Var department. “I'm still in shock, everything shook, luckily the children are in bed,” says a resident of the Alpes-Maritimes, quoted by Nice-Matin.
“My chair moved, the window shook, the family felt vibrations throughout the apartment”, adds another.
Last Monday, another earthquake was recorded in the Ubaye Valley, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
The phenomenon, measuring 4.3 in magnitude, was felt to Nice.
