Frenchman Nassourdine Imavov pulled off a stunning performance by knocking out MMA legend Israel Adesanya of Nigeria in a highly anticipated fight on Saturday in Riyadh at UFC Fight Night.

25 seconds…

Imavov, 28, put in an exceptional performance against the former middleweight champion, considered one of the best in history.

Imavov, ranked 5th in the world before the fight, opened the way to the fight for the belt, held by South African Dricus du Plessis, who knocked out Adesanya in August 2024.

The The Frenchman, originally from Dagestan and who settled in Provence as a child, sent his opponent to the canvas with a right hook 25 seconds into the second round, forcing the referee to stop the fight. He had a difficult start to the fight.

He strings together remarkable performances

“I deserve to fight for the title”, Imavov said after his victory in a message probably intended for Dana White, the president of the UFC, who has the decision.

Imavov stagnated for a long time after joining the American organization four years ago, but since last year he has stringed together great performances by beating three top 10s.

Du Plessis will put his title back on the line in a week against American Sean Strickland at UFC 312 in Australia.
