This 30-year-old Montpellier resident under guardianship attacked a policewoman after being taken into custody in connection with a group break-in.

Recently, a 30-year-old Montpellier resident under guardianship appeared before the Montpellier judicial court for death threats, violence and insults against a person in a position of public authority.

These events date back to October 11. That day, he was in police custody because he was suspected of having committed a burglary in a group.

He strangles her and then injures her wrist

“But in the middle of the afternoon, you were violent with a policewoman who, according to you, had taken too long to take you to the toilet”, explained the presiding judge, Ilana Lachkar.

“You insulted her and then you got face to face with her before strangling her and putting her in an armlock. This caused her a wrist injury. Then, as if that were not enough, you threatened to kill her by saying to her: “I'm going to kill you, s…, I've strangled you now but next time it will be worse.” You recognize the facts ?”

I just pushed her by the throat

“No, that's not how it happened. I didn't have my medication. I'm schizophrenic. I could see the clock ticking and if I don't take my medication by 4 p.m., then I know I'm doing something stupid. I'm really sorted. So, yes, I got angry because there was blood in the toilet. And I told her about it.”

“But since she didn't seem to take me seriously, I just pushed her by the throat. And I didn't threaten her, I just told her I wanted her to catch staph”, confided the accused.

Guilty of violence and contempt

While he was acquitted of the death threats, he was found guilty of the violence and contempt.

As a repression, he was sentenced to eight months in prison with a two-year probationary period with obligations to receive treatment and to repair the damage caused to the victim who got off with one day of ITT.

In addition, he was ordered to pay her 1,500 euros in damages.
