A pensioner has been living on 680 euros for a year. His pension insurance suspended his payment after discovering an undeclared A booklet with a large sum on it.

It’s a completely crazy story. Roland Fernandez, a septuagenarian suffering from Crohn’s disease, who lives in Chorges in the Hautes-Alpes, now lives on 680 euros because of the suspension of his solidarity allowance for the elderly (Aspa), according to BFM.

Thanks to this aid, he could benefit from 500 euros, allowing him to have a rather decent retirement. Now, he has to restrict his activities due to lack of money. “I get up, I cook and I sit on the couch in front of the television, that's what my days consist of. I feel like I'm in prison”, he confided to our colleagues at BFMTV.

“You know, I'm a brave guy”

The latter tried to contact the retirement and health insurance fund multiple times at work (Carsat), in vain. “As I have a very good relationship with the mother of my children, she brings me food from time to time. I went to the Secours Populaire once, but I didn't “I'm not going anymore because I'm ashamed”, he says. “It's hard to find yourself like this when I've worked all my life “.

He even considers going back to work to supplement his income. “I think I'll prepare some appetizer boards in the kitchen. It's not too hard work, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to do it. You know, I'm a brave person, me , when you have to go there is no choice.”

6,000 euros, that's the amount on a livret A that the organization accuses him of having received between 2018 and 2023. According to him, this sum was intended for his children's studies. “My daughter who is now 22 years old, she told me said “you'll come live with us” so thank goodness she's here.”
