Ahmed Sylla has not always displayed the big smile he is known for. It is on the YouTube channel Oui Hustle that the 34-year-old comedian confided in confidences about his family torments. Adolescence was thus not a happy period of his youth, between his parents' divorce and his mother's return to Senegal. “I realize that I simply miss my mother”, he says today.
This dark page of his history has left scars. “I see my father not happy”, remembers the man who until now refused to talk about his childhood. Losing his bearings, the teenager had to face a deep feeling of loneliness at the time, leaving the door open to dark thoughts…

Nothing could fill the emotional void that Ahmed Sylla was suffering at the time. To end his suffering, the teenager had then made a radical decision: “I wanted to end my life“.“I blocked my carotid arteries and I felt like I was leaving“, continues the thirty-year-old who considers this gesture today as “a call help”.
Having recovered from his suicidal thoughts, the actor, who recently starred in the film poster for the film, Super Dad, calls on young people in pain to talk about their distress. “You have to get help […] In our culture, we don't have this habit of going to see a psychologist”, he explains. And to insist as a conclusion:“[Suicide] is really not the solution”.
Ahmed Sylla: this other traumatic episode of his youth
The rise to glory is a path strewn with pitfalls. Ahmed Sylla had to show resilience during this long solo journey. Last year, he recounted a traumatic episode from his youth on the podcast microphoneAmuse Bouche: a shooting that nearly cost him his life.
“A guy shoots our car with a shotgun. My friend's hand was blown off… I saw myself dying at that moment”, he recounts. Although he has experienced violence, the actor, who is back on stage this year, remains deeply attached to France, a country he refuses to believe is totally racist. “Yes, part of France is, but France also gives its chance”, declares this son of Senegalese immigrants who says he does not like “mediocrity”.
