“I like the energy he gives off”: Aho's first match without fuss, new MHB player, during the quiet victory against Ivry

Le MHB s'est tranquillement imposé face à la lanterne rouge de Starligue (39-23), permettant à son nouveau joueur et joker médical Sindre Aho de disputer ses premières

Beyond the result that was hardly in doubt, this Montpellier-Ivry was especially worth it for the discovery of the medical joker recruited in the middle of the week by the MHB. Sindre Aho, a 27-year-old Norwegian, did not miss his first meeting with the public of the FDI Stadium.

Despite only one training session in the legs with his new partners, this lightweight center half (1.83 m for 84 kg) won the good graces of the supporters as soon as he appeared on the court. The gap between the two teams was already significant (16-11, 23rd). The perfect time to start in Starligue for sure.

As he was taught in his native country, Aho focused mainly on making his team play, on distributing the balls. Simply. Without fuss. “You have to know how to seize every opportunity,” he said Friday during his official presentation.

“The ideal match for him”

When you have six months of contract (for the moment) ahead of you, you must not waste time. The Norwegian ended up playing seven minutes in the first half and twice as many in the second, scoring his first goal in the process (26-16, 37th).

“I like the energy he gives off. He only did one training session and two video sessions… It was the ideal match for him”, described his new coach Erick Mathé after his players' easy victory.

Simonet at over 1000 goals

Diego Simonet, for his part, has lost count. In recent weeks, the Argentinian, 34 years old, 11 of which have been under the colours of the MHB, has passed the symbolic bar of 1,000 career goals, in all competitions. A collector's jersey was waiting for him before the start of the match to mark the occasion.
Facing the bottom of the class (one draw and now ten defeats), the maestro did not force his talent. After launching the hostilities, he left it to others, and Aho in particular, to provide after-sales service.

For once, Monte thus proved more skillful than usual when it came to adjusting the opposing goalkeeper. The youngsters (Prat, Dubois, Guigon) also took advantage of it by coming off the bench.

“The risk in this type of (easy) match is to review the squad and the manager against the clock, Mathé explained again. We are coming out of a period with matches every three days, we have been really taxing on the bodies. It was good to be able to play everyone and rest Valentin (Porte) or Diego (Simonet).” In Ivry, on the other hand, times are tough. Even with a former coach (Didier Dinart) in charge.
