Recalling this pivotal period, Liane Foly speaks of a “karmic” encounter when she crossed paths with André Manoukian and his sidekick Philippe Viennet in 1984. “You don't have several encounters like that in a lifetime”, underlines the 58-year-old singer. Very quickly, a beautiful complicity is born between the three artists. If she forms a deep friendship with Philippe Viennet, it is love at first sight with André Manoukian. Their romance will last ten years.
This love story will also be a source of inspiration for many titles. “Ça has given a lot of very positive things”, recognizes Liane Foly. The couple collaborated on several of the singer's albums, such as “Rêve orange” in 1990, which allowed her to obtain a gold record. Despite the success, their relationship would eventually fade.
The regret of not having started a family
Looking back, Liane Foly regrets that their story was not as fulfilling in the private sphere as on the professional level. “I would have liked André to marry me, I would have liked to have children with him. It didn't happen”, she confides with a hint of nostalgia. A dream of marriage and motherhood that will never have seen the light of day.
Despite their separation more than 25 years ago, the singer still has a lot of affection for André Manoukian. She also takes advantage of her TV appearance to give him a little wink: “André if you watch the show, come back!”, she says with humor and tenderness. A beautiful proof that their complicity is intact despite the years and the different life paths.
