“I'm starting to know Félix pretty well”: Arthur Cazaux will have more than one revenge to take on Auger-Aliassime this Wednesday at the Open Occitanie

At home in Montpellier, Arthur Cazaux will have the opportunity to reach the quarter-finals of the Open Occitanie for the first time in his career, if he ever manages to take his revenge on the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, this Wednesday, January 29 (not before 6:30 p.m.).

What if he finally took his revenge against Félix Auger-Aliassime ? What if he qualified for the quarter-finals for the first time, at home, in Montpellier ? What if he opened the draw like Moïse ?

None of this is done yet for Arthur Cazaux, facing his Canadian buddy, this Wednesday evening, in his Sud de France Arena.

But if the 22-year-old Hérault native displays the same strengths as during his first round victory against Stan Wawrinka on Monday evening (6-4, 6-3), a new marathon awaits him against FAA (23rd in the world).

“It's time to change the situation”

“I'm starting to know Félix pretty well, laughed Cazaux after his success against the Swiss. He beat me last year in the second round here, a few weeks ago in Australia… Each time, we had a big fight that lasted more than two and a half hours. It was never in my favor. It’s time to change the situation.”

Meeting the tournament's No. 2 seed in the round of 16, after playing Wawrinka in the first round, could seem like a tough blow. But not for the Cazaux clan.

I find it very interesting that he trains and plays matches against the best, explains Sam Sumyk, his coach. If Arthur can play matches against the very best in every tournament, that seems very interesting to me. If it's against a guy like me, there's no point.”
