Raynald bought a counterfeit note detector pen and tested them. “I kept the ones that didn't react, I put the others in my dresser.”

With the money in their pocket, the couple planned a weekend in Anduze. On September 18, Raynald tried to pay for his purchases at the Aldi store with a €50 note. The note turned out to be fake. The man protests: “But the cashier passed the pen. The first time it didn't react. She passed the pen again and told me it wasn't good. I didn't put it back in my wallet, I tore it up in front of her. I paid by card.” Suspicious, the cashier takes the vehicle registration.

The next day, head to the Bambouseraie. The couple pays the entrance fee to the park and has lunch at the snack bar. Total: €40. The Bambouseraie detects the counterfeit bills and thanks to the cameras manages to identify the two suspects. The police are notified and make the connection with the case the day before at the supermarket.

The car, a Mini Cooper, is quickly found. The couple is checked. The police found the counterfeit notes “that I thought were good”, insisted the defendant at the bar.

In accordance with the demands of prosecutor Abdelkrim Grini, the court handed down an eight-month suspended prison sentence to the defendant in addition to a €2,000 fine but decided to return the vehicle to its owner as requested by Euria Thomasian, defense counsel.
