In Millau, WorldSkills selects the best professional talents

Plus grand concours de métiers au monde, les WorldSkills sont en pleines sélections régionales en Occitanie. Mardi 28 janvier, elles se déroulent à Millau.

May the best man win! Organized by the Occitanie Region, the selections for the 48th edition of the international WorldSkills competition, or Olympics of Trades in French, began on January 13 and continue until February 12. A whole month during which more than 400 young people under 23 years old – high school students, apprentices, employees or job seekers trained or employed in the region – measure themselves on their know-how. On the program, technical tests to be completed in a limited time. Tuesday, January 28 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., a selection takes place in Millau, in the premises of the Millavoise Association for Integration and Orientation.

Then, the winners will represent the Region at the national finals organized in Marseille in October. The national finalists will be able to represent France at the international finals in Shanghai, China in September 2026. These Olympics concern around fifty trades such as construction, public works, digital, agriculture, automotive and communication. The regional selections in Millau focus on systems and network administration, cyber security and business software solutions.

Free and open to all to find your vocation

The event, organized in parallel with the establishment's open day, is free and open to all. An opportunity for the public, therefore, to explore new professions and discover professional gestures. “By organizing these new regional selections for WorldSkills, the Region is once again offering young people from Occitanie the opportunity to prove their passion and excel in the eyes of the whole world, supports Carole Delga, President of the Occitanie Region. During the 46th and 47th editions, 21 and 22 medals were awarded to our regional representatives respectively. This year again, our youth will make us proud! And it is also because they are a wealth and constitute the future of our territory that the Region will continue to mobilize its vital forces in apprenticeship and professional training.”

The next selections in Aveyron will take place from February 4 to 6 at the Chamber of trades and crafts of Aveyron in Onet-le-Château. The young competitors will demonstrate their know-how in automotive painting.
