In Surrey, RCMP investigate shooting at Sikh activist’s home

In the suburbs of Vancouver, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Surrey open an investigation into a shooting which allegedly targeted a property belonging to a Sikh activist close to Hardeep Singh Nijjar.< /p>

Police say they responded overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, around 1:20 a.m., to several reports of shootings on a property located at 2800 of 154th Street.

Bullet marks were seen on the door of the house and on the parked car on the property. The RCMP has not confirmed the number of shots fired.

The investigation is still underway in its early stages and the motives surrounding this incident are still undetermined, said Sarbjit Sangha, spokesperson for the Surrey RCMP.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact police at 604-599-0502, referring file number 2024-15076 (photo dated February 1, 2024).

No one was injured in the incident, but according to Moninder Singh, spokesperson for the British Columbia Gurdwara Council, the house in question is that of Simranjeet Singh, a friend of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
