“Vraiment une superbe expérience” pour Ludovic et Ophélie Mary, de la boulangerie d’Adell. Midi Libre – ALEXIS BETHUNE
Ophélie and Ludovic Mary, from Adell's bakery, look back behind the scenes of the show “The best bakery in France”, in which they participated.
“A lot of stress, a lot of work, but now it's okay, we can breathe“, summarizes Ludovic Mary, manager of the Adell bakery, avenue du Général-de-Gaulle, in Saint-Hilaire-de-Brethmas since July and in Saint-Christol-lès-Alès for four years. With his wife Ophélie, he participated in “La meilleure boulangerie de France”, the show broadcast on M6 and presented by Bruno Cormerais, Noëmie Honiat and chef Michel Sarran. This Friday, January 10, at 6:35 p.m., the Mary supporters hope, the best baker will be from Bassin.
“It's Endémol (TV production company, behind Loft Story) who contacted us via our Facebook page“, remembers the baker. The Marys were a little taken aback: “We hadn't yet set up the Saint-Hilaire premises.” However, this is where they wanted to host the show's cameras. “To bring a little visibility“, Ophélie explains.

The company that installed me was incredible. They dropped everything at 11:30 p.m. to come and install the stoves“, explains Ludovic. Finally on schedule, Adell's new bakery was able to host the show. “48 hours before, I was still receiving equipment“, laughs the baker. “A real challenge, but a great experience“, adds Ophélie. For them, the filming went very well, even if the cameras remain “very impressive and a little unsettling at the beginning“.
The Marys detail the schedule for the day of filming: “They stayed for six hours. First the cameramen come.” And then “Bruno (Cormerais) and Noëmie (Honiat) arrived in the afternoon“. The cameras roll, filming Ludovic and his employee James. The first hours are gripping, “but the production team was reassuring“. At the same time as this filming, the baker still had a business to run.
“They film us, we present our favorite products, we explain how they are made.” Then comes an interview period with the jury where the baker then begins to present his flagship product: a strawberry bread. “I had the idea to do this when Ophélie was pregnant. She wanted strawberries.” But to discover the secrets of this recipe, we will have to wait for the broadcast of the show.
The explanations come thick and fast and swell like the loaves they present to the jury. Behind the stove, the baker admits that he did not see the day go by. But “it's true that when the cameras left in the evening, it suddenly fell back“, he sighs.
Customer feedback is already positive: “They are all waiting for us, they are super happy. Always little words and attentions.” On a personal level, Ludovic would like to “stabilize things“, and take some time for his family.
Then, what do they hope for from this appearance on television? “For us, it is first of all to introduce this bakery in the Bassin, which is not very well known and lacks visibility.” But it is also a reward: “The cherry on the cake, after four years of hard work.” Ludovic and Ophélie are proud to show that craftsmanship still exists. “In the space of an hour of broadcasting at 6:35 p.m., we restore consumer confidence. We show them that there are still craftsmen who get up very early every night to prepare their morning treats.“
