Introducing the new Mac mini M4/M4 Pro: more powerful and smaller than ever!

The information was leaked this morning, it is now official. The 2024 Mac mini is here, powered by the M4 or M4 Pro chip, as revealed by Amazon's comparison photos that were accidentally released.

The Mac mini is therefore the first Apple desktop computer equipped with the M4 Pro chip which can therefore integrate up to 14 CPU cores and 20 GPU cores. The RAM, it , can go up to 64GB and storage up to 8TB.

The Mac mini M4 is therefore composed of a CPU 1.8 times faster and a GPU 2.2 times faster than the M1 version. Enough to make the Mac mini a formidable machine in an ultra-compact format.

Because the originality of this new generation lies in its design. Apple is reducing the dimensions of its Mac mini more than ever , which looks like a Mac Studio that has been eaten by an Apple TV. The case, made of 80% recycled materials, is shaped like a 5-inch square, or 12.7 cm (5 inches) long, and 5 cm (2 inches) high. Small but mighty.

“The new Mac mini delivers massive performance in an incredibly compact design, thanks to the energy efficiency of Apple Silicon and an innovative new thermal architecture,” said John Ternus, Apple's senior vice president of hardware engineering. And to add:

“Combined with the performance of the M4 chip and the new M4 Pro, enhanced connectivity on both the front and back, and the introduction of Apple Intelligence, Mac mini is more capable and versatile than ever, and there's nothing else like it.”

Apple has indeed integrated extremely rich connectivity considering its format. In addition to the two USB 3 ports and the 3.5 mm jack on the front, there are three Thunderbolt 4 or 5 ports (depending on the M4 or M4 Pro versions), alongside an HDMI, a 10 Gigabit Ethernet port and power. The Mac mini is compatible with WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.

One might imagine that the price of this Mac mini would soar: this is not the case . Apple even offers a price-performance ratio that is almost unbelievable. The M4 version with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage is indeed available from 699 euros. To this you will have to add the keyboard and mouse if you are not already equipped.

Apple is less generous with the M4 Pro version, available at 1,649 euros with 24 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. As always, custom configurations drive up the price significantly.

All versions are now available for pre-order with delivery scheduled for November 8th.
