What is the price of the iPhone 16 Pro vs. the iPhone 15 Pro ?

Price is one of the most important factors to consider when buying a new smartphone. And in the case of the iPhone 16 Pro, it must be admitted that the difference with the iPhone 15 Pro is minimal: the iPhone 15 Pro in its least advanced version (128 GB) is offered at a base price of €1,230.95. The iPhone 16 Pro is cheaper by €1.95 (which actually corresponds to the French tax): €1,229. And the same goes for all models: €1,359 for 256 GB, €1,609 for 512 GB and finally €1,859 for 1 TB. If you already have an iPhone 15 Pro, it is therefore not the price that will be the determining factor in the decision of a user who would like to make the transition. In any case, this new model remains expensive compared to market prices, especially on Android.

Note however that it is already possible to find the iPhone 15 Pro at much better prices at various online stores, especially if you opt for refurbished.

The differences between the two models are really not many. Apple, for example, talks about a better battery, but still does not quantify this data in mAh. So we have to take them at their word on this. Apart from some design changes that we will discuss below, the main difference lies in the usual move to a latest-generation chip (here, the A18 Pro chip).

The latter's main objective is to allow an optimization of the capabilities linked to Apple Intelligence. However, The A17 Pro chip offered last year for the iPhone 15 Pro & Pro Max also allows Apple's artificial intelligence to be used locally (at least when it is available in France), without having to go through the cloud. In other words, the transition from one model to another seems generally superfluous.

How do the two models compare in terms of camera ?

On the photo sensor side, The new iPhone 16 Pro does not stand out significantly from its direct predecessor. On the other hand, and this is one of the main new features of these new Pro & Pro Max models, Apple has integrated a new Camera Control button located towards the bottom of the right edge of the device. The latter can have several uses: first, it is the button allowing the quick launch of the camera.

Once you launch the Camera app on your iPhone, the button can do a number of things: it can be used to take a photo with a quick press or a video by holding it down, for example. It can also be used to do a quick Google search by aiming the sensors at an object. If you see a bike on the street, you can use this method to do a Google search for the bike on the internet, and thus find out its price (this feature is called Visual Intelligence and will not be available before 2025 in our country).

What changes in terms of design ?

Just take a look at the technical sheets of the two models to see the obvious: the changes in terms of design are particularly rare. Besides a heavier weight for the most recent iteration (199 grams versus 187 grams for the iPhone 15 Pro), the screen is slightly larger (6.3 inches versus 6.1 inches for the iPhone 15 Pro).

What is the price of the iPhone 16 Pro Max compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max ?

As with the iPhone 16 Pro, the Pro Max version has no real price difference with its predecessor. So, for a model with 256 GB of internal storage, you had to count on €1,480.95 to get an iPhone 15 Pro Max last year. Today, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is available for €1,479. Once again, the difference is minimal: €1.95. The same goes for the other models. €1,729 for the version with 512 GB of internal storage and €1,979 for the version with 1 TB of internal storage.

As with the iPhone 15 Pro, it is however possible to find the iPhone 15 Pro Max for a better price by going through certain online stores, or by choosing the refurbished one. To enjoy a new iPhone 16 Pro Max, however, you'll have to pay full price.

Just like the Pro models, the differences between the two Pro Max models are not many. The main one is the presence of a new A18 Pro chip, which aims to facilitate the use of Apple Intelligence. But we repeat: it will be possible to use Apple's artificial intelligence on the iPhone 15 Pro Max as well.

How do the two models compare in terms of the camera??

Once again, while it is a little early to give a clear opinion on the question of the photo, the technical changes between the two models seem minimal. We are thus left with a 48-megapixel main sensor, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 5x telephoto lens. The iPhone 16 Pro Max also has the Camera Control button, which will allow better handling of the camera application, for easier regular use.

Moreover, this button can also be used to adjust the various shooting parameters in real time in order to ;#8217;provide better precision in taking a photo (depth of field, zoom, exposure correction). Visual Intelligence will also be available here, but only when Apple Intelligence is available in France, i.e. from 2025.

What changes in terms of design ?

In terms of design, the biggest difference between the iPhone 16 Pro Max and the iPhone 15 Pro Max is the size of the screen: for this new model, the iPhone 16 Pro Max goes from a 6.7-inch screen to a 6.9 inches, making it the largest smartphone from the Apple company since its debut in the industry. Consequently, it will also be the heaviest model in the last two years: the iPhone 16 Pro Max max weighs 227 grams, compared to the 221 grams of the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Moreover, we note the presence of the new Camera Control button on the right edge of the device, but also various colors which will allow potentially for fans to stand out with a new presentation compared to the iPhone 15 Pro & Pro Max. The colors available to consumers are: Titanium Black, Titanium White, Natural Titanium and Desert Titanium.

As it stands, it appears difficult to answer this question positively. Apart from a few details that are not really important (a slightly larger screen, a new chip with a limited performance boost, new colors and a new button to control the camera), it must be admitted that the changes and improvements from one generation to the next are particularly limited.

The strong argument could be Apple Intelligence, but for the moment, the artificial intelligence made by Apple is still not available in Europe (we will have to wait until 2025). And even when it is available here, the iPhone 15 Pro & Pro Max will also be compatible with the function. In other words, the justification for upgrading if you already own a Pro or Pro Max model from last year ultimately turns out to be very slim. Especially since the price is the same compared to 2023, so even on this side, no changes are to be reported.

In short, these new iPhone 16 Pro & Pro Max will be aimed more at users with an older device or an Android model, who would like to make a transition in order to potentially be able to take advantage of Apple Intelligence in a few months. For others, do these new iterations justify a new purchase because of their new features?? Certainly not.
