The iPhone 16 was released in September, but there are already many rumors about the 2025 models. Next year, Apple is expected to launch a new iPhone SE, with a new, more modern design and compatibility with Apple Intelligence. And in September, the company will present the iPhone 17 series. This news will be a bit special, since according to several credible sources, the company will not offer an iPhone 17 Plus. Instead, Apple will market a completely new type of iPhone dubbed the iPhone 17 “Slim” or iPhone 17 “Air.” And the particularity of this new model would be its new design.

An innovative design (finally)

In recent years, Apple has greatly improved the technical specifications of its iPhones, especially on the Pro models. On the other hand, when it comes to design, Apple hasn’t been very creative. But the good news is that according to rumors, the iPhone 17 “Slim” should have a revolutionary design, compared to its predecessors. This Slim iPhone would be significantly thinner than previous iPhones. But apparently, to offer this revolutionary design, Apple would have to make sacrifices in terms of the technical sheet.

A single photo sensor on the back ?

And it's getting clearer by the day. In an article published a few days ago, the MacRumors site relays a note that was allegedly written by analyst Jeff Pu and which mentions the probable technical specifications of the iPhone 17 Slim. While other iPhones (except the iPhone SE) have two or three photo sensors on the back, the iPhone 17 Slim would be satisfied with a single 48-megapixel sensor on the back, combined with a 24-megapixel front sensor on the front. The analyst would also have mentioned an A19 chip based on the same 3 nm technology as the A18 Pro chip, and a 6.6-inch screen. In essence, if these rumors are true, Apple would be asking its customers to choose between a good design and a good technical specification.

  • Apple is rumored to not be releasing an iPhone 17 Plus in 2025, but to be launching a completely new type of iPhone: the iPhone 17 Air or iPhone 17 Slim
  • This new model would be thinner and have a radically different design from the designs of previous models
  • But Apple would be forced to make concessions in terms of technical specifications
  • According to one rumor, for example, the iPhone 17 Slim would have only one camera sensor on the back
