Iran's Supreme Leader: Israel's Attack Should “Neither Be Exaggerated nor Minimized”

The Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, indicatedé Sunday that one should "neither exaggerate nor minimize" Israeli strikes on military sites in Iran on Saturday.

“The harm done by the Zionist regime should neither be exaggerated nor “minimized,” Ayatollah Khamenei said on the social network X, denouncing “a bad calculation” on the part of Israel, in his first reaction to the Israeli attack.

< p>For the first time, Israel publicly announced that it had attacked Iran, launching pre-dawn airstrikes Saturday against missile-making facilities in three provinces including the capital Tehran.

Iran's armed forces said only “radar systems” were damaged and reported four officers killed.

Iranian officials and media have downplayed the impact of the attack, hailing Iran's defensive capabilities.

Israel was responding to an Oct. 1 missile attack by Iran on its territory.

The Iranian attack was said by Tehran to be aimed at avenging the Sept. 27 killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in a Israeli strike near Beirut, and that on July 31 in Tehran of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, killed in an attack attributed to Israel.

Iran asserted its right to defend itself after the strikes on Saturday of Israel, its sworn enemy. And Israel has threatened Iran with making it “pay a high price” if it retaliates.
