“It has not been extended”: Mohamed Haouas' future not yet fixed with the MHR

Mohamed Haouas, suspended by the MHR at the beginning of the week, is coming to the end of his contract with the Montpellier club at the end of the season and his future is uncertain. ;#39;is not yet fixed.

The Mohamed Haouas saga is not completely over. Arrested for drunk driving last weekend in Montpellier, 36 hours after the victory over the Welsh team Newport in the Challenge (14-18), the Montpellier pillar was suspended at the beginning of the week. Financial and sporting sanctions are also planned. “He will not play against Racing 92 next Saturday”, assured manager Joan Caudullo this Saturday, December 14.

On the other hand, the question of his medium-term future is still uncertain. At the end of his contract next June, Haouas had given pledges of satisfaction in his quest for redemption, convincing the management and staff of the MHR to extend his contract. Discussions were going in this direction. This latest event may have come to break everything.

“We would not allow ourselves to extend a guy who harms our image”

“He was not extended. His contract is still at the end of its contract. Today, we would not allow ourselves to extend a guy who harms our image”, Caudullo said. The latter added: “I won't say more about Momo, except that we are still disappointed with him. Nothing has changed in that regard.”

The Montpellier management is in a quandary regarding this issue. “At the first lapse, he leaves again,” declared president Mohed Altrad last June. This is not the time for such a decision. The reflection is still ongoing.

This season, Mohamed Haouas has been selected on seven match sheets in all competitions. His behavior was appreciated internally until this hitch. His profile, sportingly, is obviously an advantage for the MHR. He is still young (30 years old), has international status (16 caps), is a jiff (player from the French team) and his salary is far from exorbitant. But are these elements enough to keep him? ? The ball is in the club's court.
