The coaches of Indiana and San Antonio humorously returned to the eventful bus journey between their hotel and the Bercy arena with the police escort before the first match between the two teams this Thursday, January 23.
Rick Carlisle wanted to start his pre-match press conference with a warm tribute to the police escort and the bus driver who took his team from their hotel in central Paris to the Bercy arena.
“I really thank them but it was one of the most eventful experiences I've ever had”, joked Rick Carlisle.
“We felt a bit like we were in the video game Call on Duty, it was a bit bumpy. The traffic is a bit wild here”, continued the Indiana coach who then thanked the police escort for allowing him to arrive without encombres.
“It was a nice trip. We clung to the seats a bit, but the driver was calm and seemed to think it was normal”, added his colleague from the San Antonio Spurs Mitch Johnson.
“In Paris, there are lots of extraordinary things, the Champs-Élysées, Notre Dame, the Louvre… but driving is still the most extreme thing”, laughed the Pacers coach, visibly this did not disturb his team.
