Faced with increasingly weary singles, dating apps seem to be at an impasse. Tinder, Bumble, Hinge… The revenues of the big names in the dating market are down, as are their number of users. The expectations of lonely hearts have changed significantly in recent years. Without a revival on the part of dating apps, they will have a hard time regaining their former glory.

New dating apps are therefore regularly emerging, promising a real breath of fresh air on the market. Breeze encourages face-to-face meetings while JOG encourages you to walk to match. But sometimes, there are certain ideas that should not be implemented. Carimmat is a dating app aimed at drivers who have an easy crush in traffic jams. Relatively in bad taste, the adventure ends here for this app which has nevertheless attracted 200,000 users since 2021.

A dating app for those who fall in love in traffic jams…

If you're stuck in traffic, you might as well take advantage of it to find love… No? That's, in any case, the idea behind the Carimmat dating app. Its founder, Tristan Berguer, wanted above all to meet a personal need.

200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000

The idea behind Carimmat is to be able to approach an attractive person you have passed in a car. To do this, you simply scan their license plate. While the idea may be interesting, its execution is quite awkward. Users have the option of sending a message to other drivers by indicating their license plate. We can't help but be wary of this initiative. At a time when unsolicited flirting is increasingly being singled out, this dating app can quickly descend into harassment.

This is all the more disturbing because if you send a message to a user who has not (yet) downloaded Carimmat, the message is stored and will be delivered the day it is installed on the smartphone of the person concerned.

Launched in 2021, Carimmat has still managed to attract its share of drivers. The dating app has managed to reach more than 200,000 active users according to the founder, with 60% men and 40% women and an average age of around thirty. But it seems that for several months, its founder has neglected it too much. So much so that it is now the end of Carimmat. This is what its creator Tristan Berguer announced on Linkedin on January 14, 2025. It is probably for the best…
