IN BRIEF

  • Léon Debbouze, 16, son of Jamel Debbouze and Mélissa Theuriau, was criticized on TikTok after posting photos with the PSG jersey.
  • Internet users have accused Léon of benefiting from favoritism, confusing his amateur team with the PSG training center.
  • Despite the criticism, many Internet users defended Léon, stressing the importance of checking the facts before commenting.

Sons and daughters of often take flak, simply because they exist. This is particularly the case for Léon, 16 years old, son of Jamel Debbouze and Mélissa Theuriau. While the teenager has caused no harm to the public, his latest post has earned him a wave of hate on Tik Tok, which could not be less justified.

The young man, who plays recreationally at PSG with the U16 team of the association, recently posted a series of photos in which we find him with the Paris Saint-Germain jersey, posing sometimes with his father, sometimes with Zinedine Zidane. But some confused Internet users clearly thought that Léon Debbouze was not playing in the association but in the training center, which earned him hateful comments on Tik Tok. “He looks too bad”, “pistonned”, “son of dad”, we can read among the reactions.

Jamel Debbouze: his son Léon wrongly accused of nepotism

However, no nepotism was necessary to allow the teenager to join the association's U16 team since, as we recall, the latter does not play professionally under the colors of PSG. Indeed, this organization has only managed the club's amateur teams since 1991. Only an agreement, renewed in 2019 for ten years, links it to Paris Saint-Germain.

Last April, Le Parisien stated that Léon Debbouze would probably not join the club's training center, and that PSG would not offer him a contract. As for Jamel Debbouze and Mélissa Theuriau, they have reportedly warned their son about the difficulty of breaking into football. For the H star, the path his son chooses is of little importance, as long as he is happy. “Léon Debbouze! Parc des Princes! In the World Cup final! Seriously, comedian or footballer, I am proud of the moment he enjoys his life”, confided the latter in the pages of Jeux vous aime, in 2021.

Jamel Debbouze: his son Léon defended on the Web

If some Internet users have been virulent towards Léon Debbouze, others did not hesitate to defend him. “The majority of people who comment are just jealous, period. In addition, they do not even differentiate between the training center and the association. Maybe they should think a little before speaking”, “Pistonn&eacute ptdrrr, so now you have to be connected to play at the Association ? If it was at least the Training Center I would have understood but now ptdrrrr the little guy just pays his license like everyone else”, we can read among the comments on X.
