His disappearance had caused great emotion. On December 5, 2017, Johnny Hallyday died at the age of 74. The Boss succumbed to lung cancer at his home in Marnes-la-Coquette. In March 1986, Johnny Hallyday and Nathalie Baye separated, when their daughter was only two and a half years old. For Laura Smet, their respective careers played a large part in this decision. “Their worlds have separated them. The climate at home has become tense, because there was a lot of frustration between them” she recalled.

Despite this breakup, the singer and the actress have lived a magnificent relationship. This one has always remained dear to Johnny Hallyday's heart. “I know he always loved her, like he always loved Sylvie [Vartan]. They were the two women he really trusted” explained Laura Smet. Throughout her childhood, Laura Smet grew up surrounded by her parents. “Even when separated, they remained very close. My father was careful to take an apartment 200 meters from my mother's, as if to keep an eye on her” she declared. A decision that allowed her to stay very close to the rocker.

Finally, David Hallyday's half-sister confided that her parents have always stayed in touch. “Until the end of his life, when he was really not well, he would call her. Because she told him the truth, even if he didn't want to hear it. He needed someone to open his eyes” she concluded. A fine example of the relationship between Johnny Hallyday and Nathalie Baye.
