Kauli Vaast is no stranger to the world of surfing, having overthrown the star of the discipline Kelly Slater in the semi-finals of the Tahiti Pro 2022. For the Olympics, his dream, Kauli Vaast wanted to make history for his country and for France, “to break everything,” he explained. Surfing is a real family affair. Born Tahiti, with a French father and a Caledonian mother, Kauli Vaast grew up on the Tahiti peninsula. He has been in the bath since he was little, like his little sister Aelan, a budding champion, and his little brother, Naiki, also passionate about surfing. A reservist in the national police force, Kauli Vaast puts on his wetsuit as soon as he can to tame the wave.
“I am very proud and very happy, reacted with a lot of emotion his mother Natou after the race. We don't have time to take it in. We'll see when he gets on the podium with his gold medal. We'll finally be able to say to ourselves ''wow, he's an Olympic champion'. I didn't watch the series, I stayed in my garden. I didn't see anything. &At one point, I heard my neighborhood scream, and then I understood. I had no doubts about his success. I am very happy that he was able to realize his dream. "
