Korn in concert at the arenas on June 24: does the Nîmes Festival 2025 still have surprises of this size ?

The Nîmes Festival 2025 has just been enriched with a date, and not the least: Korn, the Californian group pioneer (and survivor!) of nu metal, will be on the arena stage on June 24. Other names to follow ?

You know the principle of the “bad accustomed” (this rascal). In the case that interests us here, the Festival de Nîmes whose concept consists of inviting the biggest artists (criteria at discretion) in the most beautiful ancient arenas, had proposed last year no less than 21 evenings. Bad accustomed as we are therefore, since the first names of the 2025 edition began to fall, we count. at the Christmas truce and the weighting strike (the holidays, what), the counter had stopped at 17.

With some great dates already: the lyrical couple Roberto Alagna & Aleksandra Kurzak (June 22), the veteran with the cool Eddy Mitchell (June 28), the popular rap co-plateau Youssoupha and Soprano (July 10), the legendary guitar hero witness of Woodstock Carlos Santana (July 21) and the most famous French virtuosos, Ibrahim Maalouf and Matthieu Chedid with his best project Lamomali (July 23). Three other big names are already sold out: the one-man show of Artus (July 18), Gims, with Linh (July 22) and Scorpions (July 24).

Since the start of the school year in January, two new evenings have been added. First, the one bringing together Ninho and Niska (July 12): proclaimed by their promo “GOATs (in other words Greatests of all rime – the “best of all time”, no less) of French rap”, the two artists will be united for a joint project. The second new release is already known to metal fans: Korn (June 24). In 1994, the Californian group led by the tormented singer (master of alternating ruminations, screams, growls) Jonathan Davis, had made a spectacular entrance on the alternative scene with its original mix of elements from grunge, industrial rock, hip-hop and metal.

The best element with System of a Down is still there

Their association of a heavy five-string bass placed in front in the mix and seven-string guitars preferring to hammer out barbed riffs rather than braid solos, has set a precedent… Thirty years later, there is not much left of the nu metal scene but Korn who was the pioneer and the best element with System of a Down is still there, and in good shape! Moreover, in the first part, we will discover Seven Hours After Violet, the industrial project led by Shavo Odadjian, the bassist of the aforementioned.

That said, if we count correctly, we can still hope for (at least ?) two more evenings. We shouldn't complain, we were told, but we wouldn't be against representatives of the current rock scene (which exists, and is doing well). We've tried everything but for now, on the production side, nothing to do, it's hush-hush.
