IN BRIEF

  • Kylian Mbappé is demanding €55.4 million from PSG for unpaid wages and bonuses, and the player is being defended by Delphine Verheyden.
  • The case could shake up the football system, according to the lawyer, who criticizes PSG for wanting to avoid its obligations.
  • Discover how this case could redefine the relationships between clubs and players in the world of football.

It's a case that never ceases to be talked about. If Kylian Mbappé now seems to be heavily penalized at Real Madrid, his departure from Paris Saint-Germain has left its mark. The player is on bad terms with his former club due to a financial dispute, which does not seem to be resolved soon. Kylian Mbappé is demanding 55.4 million in unpaid salaries and bonuses from PSG and he can count on Delphine Verheyden to defend him. In the columns of L’Equipe this Friday, December 20, the lawyer confided in this subject.

Delphine Verheyden seized the FF's higher appeal commission, claiming to defend all professional days in passing. “When I pleaded before the commission, I said to its members : “we come before you for an extraordinary club, an extraordinary day, but for a terribly ordinary affair”, she began“ before continuing: “There is a fixed-term contract signed, approved, executed and where the day is not paid”.The lawyer is aware that this case could take a very dramatic turn depending on how events unfold.

Kylian Mbappé: will the player change the entire system? ?

In addition to the Kylian Mbappé case, the lawyer discusses the consequences that could result from not resolving her client's situation. According to her, this case is becoming “much larger than just my client's case. She can blow up the whole system,” she affirmed. Isn't the case of the French team captain an isolated one? ?  “PSG is telling all the other clubs loud and clear: 'Stop paying your players, force them to go to the industrial tribunal'”, continued Delphine Verheyden, very upset.

Another question arises: why didn't Kylian Mbappé take the matter to the industrial tribunal ? His lawyer immediately declared that this hypothesis would take far too much time. “It takes a year and a half to get a decision in first instance, two years on appeal and the same in cassation”, she said before affirming: “‘they will all have finished their careers before paying”. Still according to the words of the lawyer, the club “ would like to escape the rules of football. He is ready to bring down the system rather than fulfil his obligations”.

Kylian Mbappé: a departure that was very noticeable

Kylian Mbappé has never hidden his desire to play for Real Madrid. A dream that finally became reality but which caused many tensions with the Parisian club. During this interview, Delphine Verheyden recalls that, of the 55 million that are requested, the entire sum will not be paid to the player. “There is about 25 million for Kylian Mbappé. But the other 30 are taxes and charges”, she said.  A very large sum, however, for which the captain wants to fight.
